문학과영상학회 2019년 가을 국제학술대회

이번 대회의 주제는 “미디어/공동체: 집중, 확장, 기술”이다. 이번 대회에서는 미디어라는 개념에 초점을 맞추어 기술, 철학, 문화, 예술 등 다양한 분야와의 접점을 찾기 위해 다양한 관련 주제들을 살펴보고자 한다. (미디어는 몸의 확장이라고 주장한) 맥루한과 (미디어는 우리의 상황을 결정한다고 주장한) 키틀러, 그리고 포스트-(매스)미디어를 개념화한 가타리에 영감을 받아, 미디어가 어떻게 다양한 방법으로 집중, 확장, 그리고 공유의 역학을 개발하고 활성화시키는가에 대한 물음에 대한 재고하려고 한다. 가령 포스트미디어 환경 안에서 어떠한 형태의 국가 혹은 시민의식이 가능한 것인지, 또한 매스미디어의 거대한 틀과 제약을 벗어난 듯한 뉴미디어 플랫폼에서 1인 미디어가 행하는 정치사회적 역할 혹은 문화적 가치는 무엇인지 생각해볼 수 있다.

The conference theme is “Media/Community: Concentration, Extension, and Technology.” . This conference seeks to place the focus on media, and consider how it intersects with the various concerns of technology, philosophy, culture, and art, among others. Inspired by the scholarship of Marshall McLuhan, Friedrich Kittler, and Felix Guattari (specifically their ideas of (post)media), we are particularly interested in reconsidering how media develop and vitalize the dynamics of concentration, extension/dissemination, and sharing (in terms of power, capital, and ownership). For instance, how can we envision new forms of nation and citizenship in current (post)media environment? Or, how can we interpret the socio-political role or cultural value of individual content creators (e.g., YouTubers) who supposedly transcend the rules and limitations enforced by traditional mass media?
